Targeting Food Insecurity by Bringing Tradition to the Table
Food for the Soul is an interactive cooking class that explores along with teens from underserved areas of Tampa healthy ways to prepare traditional African American Soul Food. Participants and volunteers alike can look forward to preparing traditional recipes that are often accompanied by an origin story of its prominence in African American culture.
Food For The Soul will....
- Provide an avenue for Junior League members and volunteers to get involved and support the program, either through participation or donations, and volunteering in East Tampa
- Empower youth, target food insecurity, and explore African American culture through the joy of cooking
- Strengthen our community and give young people the tools to thrive, both in the kitchen and in their finances
