Celebrating 100 Years of Impact: JLT’s Centennial
Since our founding in 1926, The Junior League of Tampa has been a force for impact in Tampa Bay. Thousands of women have given their time and talents to the League over the past 99 years, and our community is better because of it.
As we embark on our Centennial year, we hope you join us in celebrating the legacy of our members and their dedication to the community.
Help Us Celebrate
Help us honor 100 years of The Junior League of Tampa by celebrating this important milestone.
Centennial Projects
The League is partnering with community organizations throughout our centennial year to complete short-term projects and events that honor the League’s past work. We will host 10 events, one for every decade of our work, partnering with other dedicated organizations.

1920s - The Joy of Reading Pop Up Book Fair
This Centennial Project is an ode to the circulating library program, one of the League’s first initiatives in 1926. Partnering with Bess the Book Bus, the League will sponsor a book giveaway to promote the joy of reading for local elementary students.

1930s - Hope Bundles for Moms
In the 1930s, League members were busy working at the Preventorium to support families impacted by TB. We will continue supporting families by partnering with the Ronald McDonald House of Tampa Bay to provide care packages for mothers with children in the NICU.

1940s - Brighten Lives: Kindness in Action
When the League began working with the Guidance Center in the late 1940s, the focus was to brighten lives by supporting one of the area’s first counseling centers. To honor this legacy the League will collaborate with local nonprofits across the Tampa Bay area to install custom benches to provide a space of kindness.

1950s - Movement & Motion: JLT Arts Day
Finding a little joy was what the League’s puppet program in the 1950s was all about. We will recreate this sense of joy by partnering with a local dance studio for a JLT Arts Day for the entire family.

1960s - Tea-Time: A JLT Affair
Bringing women together is what the League is all about and the 1960s all-member tea parties did just that. This Centennial Project will recreate these special events by hosting a tea party for our newest to most seasoned members.

1970s - Celebrating and Honoring Tampa’s Childhood Treasures
In the 1970s, League members were busy helping children by volunteering at the Tampa Children’s Museum. To honor this legacy, the League will sponsor a free-day at the Glazer Children’s Museum for children attending Title I schools.

1980s - Caring Hands
Champions for Children has been a long-time partner of the League, and was started in the 1980s following the Community Council on Child Abuse and Neglect. For this Centennial Project, we are partnering with them again to develop newborn care kits for vulnerable families.

1990s - Empower Her
Working with experts in the community to maximize impact is exactly what the League did in the 1990s through the Parenting Power project. To honor this legacy, we are partnering with Tampa General Hospital and the University of South Florida, to host a women’s health event to empower women in our community.

2000s - Salute to Service
Following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the League stepped up to support the military community in Tampa Bay. This Centennial Project continues that work, by partnering with BlueStar families to support military families and spouses.

2010s - Birthday Joy
Birthday Buddies, a League project in the 2010s, helped throw birthday parties for children living in foster care. Partnering again with the Heart Gallery of Tampa Bay, we are revisiting this work to celebrate birthdays of children currently in the foster care system.
