A MESSAGE FROM JLT PRESIDENT MELISSA KNIGHT NODHTURFT AND INCOMING PRESIDENT MEGHAN MCGUIRE
This week has again raised the veil of racial inequities that are pervasive in the cities across our country and seeing racial turmoil unfold in our communities is particularly painful and difficult to witness.
The Junior League of Tampa is an organization of diverse women leaders who are catalysts for lasting community change. For our community, we must recognize these human rights issues and take them seriously. As leaders in our community, we stand for education, justice, and action and we denounce any and all forms of racism and intolerance.
We are here to support our members and our community who are grappling with anger, fear, disappointment, and uncertainty as a result of these realities. JLT stands by each of you.
Now more than ever, it is critical that we condemn injustice, speak out against racism, educate ourselves, listen and learn from one another. Together we can make a difference when we live our values of inclusion, empowerment, collaboration, and integrity.
Let’s unite against hatred, beginning difficult conversations of action and reaffirm our commitment to cultivate a safer community that embraces and vigorously defends equality and diversity.
