We are excited to announce that the Tampa Bay International Dragon Boat Race has officially taken on the title of festival! For the first time since its inception in 2003, the 2019 race will be called the Tampa Bay International Dragon Boat Festival, boasting a day of entertainment and activities for both racers and spectators alike.
As The Junior League of Tampa’s newest signature fundraiser, the Tampa Bay International Dragon Boat Festival aims to drive community awareness, engagement and involvement, and to promote health and wellness across the Bay.
On Saturday, April 27, 2019, downtown Tampa’s Garrison Channel will come alive with community, corporate and professional paddlers racing to the finish. On land at Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park along the beautiful Riverwalk, people of all ages can enjoy food trucks, live music, entertainment, local merchants and fun activities.
This event presents great opportunities for community and family enjoyment, sponsorship, volunteering, along promotion and sales of goods and services. In 2018, this event saw 5,000 attendees from inside and outside Tampa Bay; in 2019 we expect even more! With the help of the Tampa Bay community, we hope to make this one of the most well-known and well-attended events in the area!

Making a Difference
The Tampa Bay International Dragon Boat Festival is a partnership with Tampa-based Pan Am Dragon Boat Association, a leading dragon boat production company. The League will be Pan Am’s exclusive non-profit beneficiary of the festival for years to come. All net proceeds from the festival will support the League’s life-changing community projects and advocacy programs throughout local and state communities. The League’s operating and administrative expenses are funded entirely by our members’ annual dues.
